Ubiquitous Coke, Frog Design Toolkit, Web Retail 2.0

How Coke is Everywhere...

Could Coke's (lucky) strategic ubiquity be planned? From the story, it would seem that Coke was basically forced into a situation that, in the long run, aided them tremendously.

IP 101, and Design Thinkers meet at FC

MaRS DD released this video about IP and Entrepreneurship. Worth the hour.

In other news, Fast Co. Design sat down some big thinkers from various companies to discuss design thinking. A couple things to note. It is too bad that we don't get a longer more in depth article as a result of this interaction. Seemingly, the meeting was brief as most of the attendees wore their jackets through the meeting, the table is uncluttered, and the article itself it slim in content.

I guess I hungrier for more than just a sound-bite of an article. Either way, three useful insights arise:

a) Getting outside the bubble
Take a step back. Being so involved and close to your projects can lead to a loss of the ability to properly empathize with the consumer. I often wonder if this applies to movies that flop. The ones with the right mix of ingredients, but upon release is avoided. Most film professionals do not have the intent to produce a 'bad' movie. Is it that they are too close to their individual departments in the, and the whole goes unchecked?

b) Brands much reach a global perspective
Branding to specific geographical bubbles. Is the era of big branding done?

c) The Next Age
The age of enabling real-world interactions using web based tools.

Start.

Comments, concerns, cares, questions, and quandaries is my personal reflection on the journey I am taking as I work through OCADU's Strategic Foresight and Innovation. SFI is closely intertwined with sLAB.

Reading blogs is a large part of my daily activity, writing them is not. Once a week is the goal, however I am sure that will fluctuate.

Here I will record, reflect, and reference various insights into the world of strategic design, often with a focus on the interaction of science, society, and business.

Apparently I enjoy alliterations.
